Dear Ms. Huber:
The purpose of this correspondence is to apprise you that the Lakeview Ridge Condominium Association very strongly objects to the City of Cleveland's issuance of a zoning appeal to W.B and M.E. Bauman and Bradley Road, Inc. for mineral mining at 4300 Bradley Road, Cleveland, Ohio.
The Lakeview Ridge Condominium Association is a nonprofit organization formed in 1996 that oversees the 110-unit Lakeview Ridge condominium development located in Cleveland along Jennings Road just south of Bradley Road. The association, whose primary function is to own and maintain nine and a half acres of common areas and building exteriors, is comprised of 110 homeowners who have chosen to make a substantial investment in the city of Cleveland.
As Lakeview Ridge is situated approximately 500 feet from the site in question, the quality of life of our homeowners would be negatively impacted by a nearby mining operation. A considerable amount of heavy machinery will be utilized in extracting materials and trucks to haul them off-site, resulting in vibrations that will affect the structural integrity of our homes; increased traffic; noise; and dust and pollution that will worsen our air quality. Several of our residents would have a direct view of this operation, which we anticipate would be unsightly. For these reasons, such an operation would have devastating effects on property values.
As elected president of the board of directors of the Lakeview Ridge Condominium Association, I implore you to deny this zoning request. The vicinity of the site is urban and dense, and is not suitable nor appropriate for a such an operation. Several hundred families, including the 110 of them at Lakeview Ridge, reside within a close proximity to 4300 Bradley Road, and our health, peace, property, and safety would be dramatically impacted.
